Kolada collects nothing
No account, no analytics, no tracking, no ads. Kolada does not send your notes, your usage or anything about your computer to us or to anyone else.
Your notes stay on your computer
Every note is a plain Markdown file in the folder you choose, Documents\Kolada unless you pick another. Kolada keeps its own settings and search index on your computer too. Uninstalling Kolada leaves your notes where they are.
When it goes online
For two things only. When you paste from a web page, Kolada downloads the pictures in what you pasted, from the addresses in it, so the note keeps them. And the version downloaded from this website checks for updates, once a day at most: an ordinary request to kolada.app (notsy.co for copies from before the app was renamed Kolada) for one small file that says the latest version. It sends nothing about you, your notes or your computer; like any website, kolada.app sees the address the request comes from. When there is a newer version, Kolada downloads it from kolada.app and checks it before offering it. Settings > Check for updates turns this off. The Microsoft Store version never checks: the Store updates it. Nothing else in Kolada uses the network.
Writing help
Where Writing help is included, its model runs on your computer and reads only the note that is open. It never connects to the internet.
